Bargain buys for June - Charity shop tales

I love a bargain (dont we all)! Since moving to this new house i have become aware at the lack of furniture. My house looks plain boring and unlived in. Also with the lack of storage, a teen and a pre teen and a puppy that's going through a chewing phase, the house looks like a bomb has hit it most days!

We have found an amazing hidden gem in Mansfield. A local charity shop called Phoenix which sells items at really low prices!

Here is a few things we have picked up recently which i think are fantastic!
(Excuse the mess, we are still finding homes for all the crap)

Tv Unit - £4.50

It is not a very good picture as i had to use my phone. I need to organise it so the kids xbox sits on the bottom shelf and all the wires are tucked at the back but overall i am pleased with it. It replaced our 5 year old Ikea Lack coffee table which just did not fit well in that corner.

I will be replacing this with a bigger unit so i have more space at some point. A freebie from my mum as she is updating her furniture and buying something better.

Full length mirror - £2.50

This is a work in progress this room. It needs another coat of paint, the bed replacing and the carpet sorting. With a little bit of paint so that the frame matches my new blue and white room, this mirror will fit right in.

Hallway Flooring - £10 with extra leftover.

Our puppy Max decided that the hallway would be the place he goes to when we was house training him. The carpet was only ever temporary as we intended to put laminate flooring down at some point but right now funds are not available for us to stretch to that budget.

These sticky back 99p shop vinyl tiles were the perfect compromise. They went down well and all that's needed is some trim to go around the edges and neaten it up.

I am going for a little bit of a coffee and cream type colour scheme in the hallway as it is really narrow and needs brightening up. I am keeping an eye out for a large square mirror to place over the radiator and some pretty frames to do a feature wall on the other side.

We also stuck a shelf up behind the door so we had somewhere to put our keys and letters etc. Ikea do some table legs for a couple of quid each which we will pick up when we go there next. This will finish my little console table off nicely.

Shoe cupboard - £10

This has to be my favourite buy! A lady on Facebook was selling this and a filing cabinet. I snapped them both up!

I have wanted one of these for a couple of years now but they are £40 + in Ikea and other stores. It is narrow and which is perfect for sitting in front of the stairs and provides me with a little shelf for hubby to put his bike helmet on. I need to move the coat rack up as it is now too low for us to hang coats up on and the colour does not fit in my colour scheme. I will however paint it or cover it in sticky back plastic at some point to make it more what i want.

So there is this week's bargain buys. I also picked up some clothes for the kids, a couple of books for me to read and some wool for me to continue my blanket.

Do you have any to share? Id love to see some pictures. Send them to me on facebook or twitter using the hashtag #CharityShopTales.
