We always have a gingerbread house in the build up to Christmas. I usually pick up a kit in store but as im working on a tight budget this year i wanted to make my own. I am comfortable making gingerbread but i dont like the idea of eating something that has sat around for a few days as it goes dry. We decided that to avoid this we would make one the day before Christmas eve and the kids could destroy it Christmas eve instead of opening the tins of sweets!
I found several recipes online and took to trusty pinterest to find decorating inspiration. I do find a really easy to follow DIY gingerbread house video which i have bookmarked to use later in the year and thought i would share it.
They also make lovely gifts, if you make then nearer Christmas, put them onto a cake board and place into a cellophane bag with some ribbon and a tag.
